WALT understand the mummification process

Today's lesson is all about mummification!  This was the process of preserving the body after somebody died, as the Ancient Egyptians believed that you would be reunited with your body in the afterlife.  Have a look at the video linked below.

Read through the information on the website below and then write your own instructions on how to make a mummy!  I've set a 2Do that you can use or you could write it by hand.

If you scroll down to the bottom of the website that's linked above, there's a video about a mummification experiment that you can try at home.  You'll need an orange or tomato, salt and bicarbonate of soda.  First, mix the salt and bicarbonate of soda.  The mixture works best as 3/4 bicarbonate of soda and 1/4 salt.  Next, scoop out the inside part of your tomato or orange.  Fill the hole you've made with the bicarbonate of soda/salt mixture.  Finally, leave your orange/tomato and see what happens!  Make sure that you put it in something like a bowl that will catch any juice that comes out during the drying process!  Take a picture of your mummified orange/tomato and see what it looks like in a week or two!
