L S Lowry

In Art, year 4 have been learning about Lawrence Stephen Lowry who was mainly an industrial landscape artist. They made a fact file about his life. Did you know that he was a tax inspector and didn't start painting until he retired? Or that he only used five colours in his paintings? They did some wonderful pencil sketches, a lovely seascape and finished with some amazing industrial scenes.

Visit to Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery

As part of this term's topic about Ancient Egypt we enjoyed a very

"hands on" experience at the museum.

We learnt about mummification and some of the rituals involved as the Ancient Egyptians held ceremonies to celebrate the end of life. Music was involved in the ceremonies and we had a chance to play some of the instruments.

The elaborate headdresses represent the headdresses worn by the Gods.
